Dr. Dan Bearden is a Physicist and a recognized expert in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Metabolomics. During his last post he served as Research Chemist & Senior NMR Scientist, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Charleston, SC. Dr. Bearden holds key memberships at the American Chemical Society, the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry and for several years chaired the Metabolomics Society. His expertise in developing NMR biomarkers for the rapid evaluation of fish health and feeding responses using transcriptomics is invaluable for IU’s targeted research in this area. Dr. Bearden holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and both a M.A. and Ph.D., from Rice University in Houston, TX.
